One of the greatest MMA events of all time.... one for the ages. Kiyoshi Tamura defeats Renzo Gracie, but loses later to Babalu, in a fight that he arguebly should have won. Then Babalu faces Dan Henderson in the finals, and wins a fight that could just have easily been awarded to Babalu. Either way....an epic night!

I remember reading about Eli Soares (fighter in this tournament) getting into a street fight and slamming a guy on the pavement. The guy hit his head and died. Soares went to prison and ended his mma career.

Wow....I never heard of that... or Eli Soares for that matter. I wonder how manny lesser known fighters fell of the grid for similar reasons.

Another loaded card here with Kiyoshi Tamura defeating Pat Militech, Christopher Haseman facing Matt Huges, and Tsyoshi Kohsaka going to war with Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.

He won this tournament and a few others. I miss the old vale tudo shows. I wish Brazil or Russia would do vale tudo tournaments again.
