UnderGround Forums Tito: I'd do better against Jon Jones than D.C.

“I think I would do a lot better against Jon Jones than Daniel Cormier, because Cormier is just a shorter guy (with) bigger legs, bigger torso,” Ortiz said recently on the Domenick Nati Show. “He’s just a big, big guy.

“Jon Jones is long and lengthy. I’m going to get in the inside and try to overpower some of the positions.

“But if it would be Jon Jones, I would think I’d have a great chance against (him).”

“There really hasn’t been anybody to fight Jon Jones, to get in his face, and stay in his face. Everybody else, they want to strike on the outside with him. He’s too damn long, you cannot do that. You got to get in the inside of him. That’s the way to fight him.

“As a coach and as a fighter, that’s the way to beat him,” he continued. “Someone should be aggressive enough to keep the fight, pushing him around. Make him feel uncomfortable.”

Tito also says Askren is the most overrated fighter.

"He just got knocked out in five seconds in the UFC. I would say he’d be the man. I mean, “Mr. Funkify’s” getting some attention but his attention lasts only five seconds. He didn’t even get the whole 15 seconds of fame.”

Funky had the two biggest fights of 2019. Still shocking to some. I'm not sure a UFC fight for the remainder of 2019 will eclipse his second best digital imprint which was against Lawler.

If he returns before the end of 2019 he can make it 3/3 for most anticipated bouts, depending on opponent. Some possibilities are Mike Perry, Demian Maia, Masvidal rematch, winner of Lawler/Covington, GSP, Wonderboy, Till.

??? really. Just look at the numbers it's apparent. Bring out that Mark Hunt contract again. 800 flat.

In 2019 Ben Askren and the UFC outdraw Manny Pacquiao.

Tito needs to rewatch the Glover Texeria Jon Jones fight.

Those two started the fight in a phone booth

CRE is right about Askren being a huge draw. The Askren/Lawler fight was the most watched fight of 235. The Askren/Masvidal fight was the most anticipated fight of 239. I'm not going to look it up but after 235 on Ariels show Ben claims the UFC told him his fight with Lawler was the most watched. On a sherdog poll with hundreds of votes before 239 had the Askren/Masvidal fight as the most anticipated. Then if you need other metrics you can go to youtube and compare views and stuff like that.

Thanks, CRE. I appreciate the info. I was just surprised to know this was the biggest fight so far.

Do you think it's Askren's drawing power or the combo of Askren and Masvidal coming off of the Till KO in England.

Does Tito have selective memory, or does he not remember Jones beating Cormier twice, and the second time easily?

It's a lot of things. Crazy action in the octagon, new to the UFC w/ only 2 fights and we already saw things never seen before, competing against notable names immediately, was traded for Mighty Mouse a longtime record holding Champion, The fact he's an Olympic teammate of Champ Champs Cejudo/Cormier, his record being excellent with title runs in Bellator/ONE, storied NCAA wrestling background 2 time hodge trophy winner basicaly considered top 20 all time or better, a unique look, different type of trash talk, one dimensional wrestling based attack makes him standout even more. I don't think he could lose again and maintain the same drawing power, but a return if it's in 2019 could make it 3 for 3 most anticipated fights of this year. Not sure if that's an ideal timeframe though.

It really is amazing what a delusional dick rider you are. PPV buys is the only thing that matters. Clicks on YouTube mean nothing as far as how big a fight was.
