Former M-1 lightweight champion Roman Bogatov made his UFC debut on the late prelims of UFC 251 on July 12 on Fight Island, vs. Leonardo Santos. Santos, 40 and fighting since 2002, pushed his undefeated streak in the UFC to eight, with a Unanimous Decision (29–26, 29–26, 29–26).

Bogatov earned an unusual 2-point deduction after landing two low blows and an illegal knee to the head. Referee Marc Goddard was not impressed.

And Now Russia's Tass reports he has been released.

"Yes, they told me today they had terminated the contract," said Bogatov, adding that he was not informed of reasons for the release. However, his manager Sayat Abdrakhmanov said the contract with the Russian fighter was terminated because he used prohibited strikes during bout.

Bogatov's aim was errant, but his toughness isn't in question.

Good, disgraceful performance, they need to start releasing fighters more for disregarding the rules

Leo won again in spite of all the illegal blows. Still nothing comes out of it. I guess it's time for the UFC to look for another undefeated Russian to fight him on the prelims.

There are a lot of fighters that young fighters can look up to. Leo is a fighter that both the young and old can look up to.

While the UFC may be hit and miss about fighter's behavior outside of the cage, inside the cage they tend to get it right most of the time.

Good. that fn fight was Bullshit and robbed my parlay.

Had $5 on a 5

4 fight parlay that would've scored me $140

i'd venture a guess the real reason is because he brought a cornerman with a neo nazi tattoo.

lol his cornerman has Kolovrat tattoo which kinda looks like swastika and some people think that he could've inked it to represent some racist ideas. Or maybe not.

Meanwhile a Muslim who is directly accused of affiliation with ISIS but has flashy UFC wins gets a pass..

A fucking terrorist is managing half the fighters in the UFC.
