Gokhan Saki?

The guy was already past his prime when he entered MMA. He was just doing it to prolong his athletic career and to get another paycheck. Outside of being a big name, I don't think anyone thought he was just going to walk in and become a world-beater in MMA.

Houston Alexander was terrifying after he destroyed Jardine and Sakara.. then Thiago happened.

Where is Thiago Silva these days?

He bounces around in foreign organizations. Not doing as great as you'd think against nobodies.

Also his Wikipedia pic is his mugshot, lol - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thiago_Silva_(fighter)

His name is slipping my mind but the guy who went off the cage and kicked Henderson. I thought that guy was the next big thing and would be a top guy for years.

Hard not to mention Askren in this conversation

It actually is.
Askren won multiple world titles.

Pico and Soko weren’t shit when they fell off.

Hype trains are what makes this sport so much fun. A new evolved breed that looks unstoppable, until they don’t. Too many to name, but Vitor has to be the first and still one of the biggest, most dramatic examples of this.

Vitor was a top 10 fighter for 20yrs straight, with the exception of his cage rage stint.

Not an up and comer, but the “Machida era” was short lived.

If it wasn't for Shogun he may well have held the belt until Jon Jones got there.

Which was like a month later

Brendon Thatch went downhill very quickly

VTFU, I was going to post this. Knocking everyone out or submitting them in the first round, and then people realize he has no ground game.
