I`m going to say California.

Way too many to list, but I will list the popular Northern Ca teams/gyms

AKA

Lion`s Den

Cesar Gracie

Team Alpha Male

The Pit

Somebody else can name the ones in Southern Ca because there were way more in So Ca.Especially if you count the teams that have disappeared.

Reign

Alliance

Hayastan

Ruas Vale Tudo

Gracie Jiu Jitsu Torrance

RCVA

Kings

Team Quest

Black House

Beverly Hills Jiu Jitsu

Tito`s Punishment Training Center & Huntington Beach Training Center

There`s probably 5 more that I can`t think of.

Nowadays a lot of guys come from all over to train there. Back in the day is when those gyms were more likely to be filled with local guys I’d imagine

Are you talking about people who are from a state or trained there? Training locations change, but New Mexico has influenced a lot of champions. As far as what state has the best fighters born in it, I think California and NY have to be up there but if you think about population density Minnesota and Michigan deserve a lot of credit.

Hawaii definitely punches above its weight: two all-time greats in BJ and Max. Other high quality fighters like Browne, Tavares, Noons, Smolka and Yancy.

I totally agree thats a great argument. Sounds like I’m cheering for the home team, but CA is a massive state of course they’ll have the largest amount of fighters. For a small state MA has produced not only great homegrown fighters, but also how many fighters had rebirths after going to see Mark Dellagrotte at Sityodtong to improve their striking? The list is massive.
I suspect the Midwest has a few states that are up there for for the top spot too.

Arizona is another well-represented one.

Two all-time greats (off the top of my head): Cruz and Cejudo. Add in Justin Gaethje. And I'm not sure how much of the crew from the Lab were from AZ originally, but I'm sure some of them were.

This isn't exactly what OP is looking for, but I'm not sure that any state has a better trinity of best-ever wrestler/boxer/MMA fighter than New Jersey.

Frankie Edgar.
Bruce Baumgartner/Jordan Burroughs.
Marvin Hagler.

There might be a state out there, but I can't think of one off the top of my head.

NY's is good, too.

Sugar Ray Robinson
Jon Jones
Wrestling: Maybe Gene Mills or Kyle Dake?

NY's 1-2 punch for boxing of MMA of Robinson and Jones might not be beat.

Massachusetts:

Boxer: Marciano

Wrestler: Rodney Smith (Olympian bronze medalist in 1992)

MMA: Kenny Florian (arguably)

I was asking which state produces the best fighters that were actually born there . I know alot of people leave their state to train else where but I'm just wondering which state gives us the best
