I know I am lucky to be on a forum with so many posters who have elite level IQs and world class level bench pressing ability, so I am now curious about punching power. As of right now, there is only one known forum member who can punch harder than Mike Tyson, and that is the 51 year old Karate Blackbelt Sam Pai Kenpo. I realize since this is mostly a grappling forum and not a karate forum, there might not be that many people besides Sam Pai Kenpo, but I am hoping there are a few more who can share their punching power secrets with the rest of us. So who all can punch harder than Iron Mike?

Im sure there are other Karateka in the forum who could punch harder than Tyson. I've seen some of those guys shatter blocks of Ice with one punch.

GoldDragon and Sam Pie should square off to see who is the forum's top karate man... My money is on Sam Pie, he is a 5th dan after all...

Given 1 inch of space, I can deliver a blow equalling the power of one thrown by Iron Mike Tyson. Doubt me? While I advise you don't get to close.

LOL ! Please, nobody on this forum hits harder than Tyson. I don't care how much they train, Tyson, even now, is a world class athlete. None of these guys are even 1/8th of the natural athlete and animal that Mike is. He might bet blitzed by Lennox Lewis, but he would kill these goofballs. Even if Karate guys did hit harder, they don't have the movement, conditioning, or defense of top level boxers and nobody on this forum has the speed, durability, or raw hitting power of Tyson.

A better question would be, "Who has knocked more heavyweights out with a punch than Mike Tyson has?" Just raw strength ("punching power") is meaningless. It's the ability to apply that power dynamically with accuracy and timing against an opponent who is trying to rip YOUR head off at the same time, that is important. I'm sure that there are many people, Karateka, bodybuilders, and powerlifters alike, that can apply as much or more pressure per square inch than Mike. He actually isn't THAT big compared to a lot of other heavyweights, and size is a large part of pure punching power. But he combines a high strength level with exceptional speed, timing and accuracy. Or put another way,
"Impressive. But brick not hit back!!!" My .02,
Adam

Boxers don't understand the power of chi, so none of them can punch as hard as a kung fu expert. An 80 year old kung fu master with good chi could hit tyson so hard that his spleen would explode out his back. I am not yet a chi master, only a chi apprentice, so I can only hit 3 or 4 times as hard as Tyson.

Me. But I choose not to destroy my training partners, so I pull my punches just an inch or so short.

I may not be a chi master yet, but I have enough chi power that if I send my chi at you through the internet your fingers will break while you are typing your offensive messages on your keyboard. Apologize now while you can.

I heard Sam Pai Kenpo once robbed a bank and smashed the safe open with his bare hands and then knocked a man's head of its shoulders with a single strike.

Your story about Sam Pie is an obvious lie. Sam Pie only strikes to the groin. One of his opponent's heads may have gone flying, but it was not the one attached to his shoulders.

Robin Patterson can probably punch harder than Tyson or Foreman. He is on a different level.
