The guy doesn't really look like a weightlifter or somebody who is taking steroids, but looks can be deceiving and all that. Either way, everytime you start beating on some person like this you should always remember there is a chance the guy has some sort of serious mental health issues and should obviously exercise caution and restraint. Not exactly a good look in court if that is the case and you video yourself brutally beating them.

I agree.

This isn’t a good look for any gym owner - should’ve just call the cops / reported the guy. But no, his ego got in the way and wanted to “teach him a lesson”. Reminds me of crazy white belts who learned new moves and just wanna kill someone lol

If I recall correctly the big guy initially attacked the gym owner in the parking lot. After a lull in the action the gym owner said come on in and we'll finish on the mats.

THat's where the video picks up...

Yeah those headstomps aren't going to bode too well for him if dude goes to the cops. He could have easily taught the guy a lesson with control and a few slaps. That was a real display of degeneracy.

Quite different with context. And the gym owner was obviously hit in the face previous to the recording.

Quite weird that they would fight outside, stop, and go inside, take off their shoes and all, and then resume...

On the ground he slapped him but didn't strike, but then at the end he unloads? It's just weird all around.

Crazy loser dude is tough though!

Did the owner choked him long without ever choking him out just to be a sadist? I expected dude to go to sleep but it never happened and you can see gym dude loosening at times, telling dude to breathe.

IDK if it's a good idea to be nasty to a guy who can find you anytime in the future... Nor to film and post it on the web ha ha

Not a good look, but it doesn't scandalize me eihter.  I came up training in the 90s.  This wouldn't have been unexpected in the pre-TUF/IBJJF era and tshere .

This type of stuff used to happen but the winner kept the video tape and maybe showed a few close people.  Now it gets blaster onto the web for everyone to see and opens the gym owner to lawsuits.

Also, to be fair, there are plenty of vids of guys doing challenges at boxing gyms and it generally ends up worse for the challenger since they get KO'ed pretty brutally.

Agree on the stomps being a little 'extra'  and unnecessary though.

it's to be expected in some ways but brutal and repugnant. mercy is a good thing, especially when complete control has been achieved and already demonstrated.

does anyone know if the gym burned down or if the instructor faced any consequences for this?

Mutual combat. No legal ramifications. Maybe the big dude won't be an idiot anymore.

Honestly, I don't know. Nothing seemed that crazy to me for what was going on. I don't want to warrant the "we got a badass over here" meme at all so this isn't one of those "I would've done the same thing!" type of posts... I just don't feel sorry for idiots who get taught a lesson. And like somebody else said, in the 90's this would've just got a laugh out of everybody. If I go slap Alistair Overeem or something like that I'd expect my life to be changed. The dude stumbled outta there and will be fine. I understand what you're saying though, and others who wish restraint was shown. I just also understand if you go around challenging fighters, you really don't know if it's a Wonder Boy or a War Machine ya know?
