Hey fellas. My good friend Ryan “Chopper” is dying from terminal brain cancer. He has exhausted all traditional cancer treatments in Canada. He has qualified for a clinical study at the Ivy Brain Tumour Center in Arizona. Because insurance will not cover the treatment we are trying to raise money to help get his ass on a plane and mitigate the $200,000 cost of treatment.
Please share the link from the above news story on your work’s social media platforms if you’re able to. Family and friends are hopeful that his extended First Responder family might be able to support them in their effort to get him the treatment he desperately needs. I will be happy to answer any questions you guys might have about his situation.
Please read the news article for the story of an incredible father, husband and friend.
Thanks in advance, Stray
I hope he gets the care he needs

I had the priveledge (along with Sennin) to meet up with and hang with Stray and Chopper. I can tell you first hand that Chopper is a great fucking dude, funny, kind, and fearless. The impression he made in mere minutes was amazing, after about 12 seconds of introduction we were instantly making jokes and it was like I’d known him for ages. The best part was most of the jokes were aimed at Stray!
anyone that can share this story, or help in any way, I will forever been in your debt.
thank you,

Thank you Sak. Knucklesup boys.
Stray, they are making him pay for the treatment to be a part of the clinical study? That’s odd. Even with no American insurance, that’s odd. It must be a treatment that’s already approved and available because they aren’t supposed to charge for treatments that are in clinical trial.
Good luck to Chopper.
Knucklesup Brother.

This.
Also - you may want to look into patient medical grants for these types of situations.
Sometimes wealthy benefactors (often whose family members have been through some difficult situations like this) will fund grants for folks in dire need of major medical care and whose insurance will not cover the cost.

My understanding is that it is for the cost of the brain surgery and the related medical/hospital costs. The drug treatment is covered to the best of my knowledge.

Ryan’s wife is a very motivated woman. She spends her days looking for all available options, treatments and support to assist them in their fight.

That makes sense being that he’d need to be hospitalized and such. Best of luck man, I think he’ll hit that goal. War Chopper and his family.
Another news story that ran last night. You can see the toll it’s taking on him.
