The Arrows Street Fight Championships began in 2011 in St. Petersburg, Russia, with a different concept of Mixed Martial Arts, where almost any amateur fighter can join. Each participant is evaluated and compatible opponents are selected. They have to show their ID or passport, proof of insurance and medical certificate.
Only amateurs and semi-professionals who want to perform by mutual consent, in four weight classes: Lightweight (154 lbs), Middleweight (154-176 lbs), Heavyweight (176-198 lbs) and Super Heavyweight (+198 lbs) are allowed to fight.
It is a free style fight according to rules of the organization. Fighters of same sex are chosen for sparring. There are no time limits. Fights are result-oriented; they can be stopped by the referee, by the doctor, when an opponent is knocked out or any time when one of the fighters surrenders.
The fighters can use their hands, legs, knees or wrestling technique when in a stand-up fight. On the ground, they can land free strikes with hands; knees are only allowed in the body. Fighters can use submissions and chokes. The limit for ground fighting is 60 second maximum. The fighters can stand up at referee discretion.
Eye pokes, throat strikes, fish-hooking, strikes on the groin, back of the head and backbone; elbow strikes and headbutts are prohibited. Strikes on the neck and back of the head, attempts to hurt the fingers, toes and wrists of the opponent, choking with fingers, applying pressure to eyes, attempts to injure nostrils, lips, ears are also forbidden.
Fighters are free to wear sportswear without rivets, buttons and lacing (T-shirt, tops, naked torso). Mouth guard, jockstrap, bandage are required.
They claimed to have 1,500 fighters registered and ready to fight. The organization have two upcoming events that will take place in United States and Brazil, on November and December, respectively.
