There are not many scarier human beings on the planet than MMA fighters. They are trained killing machines, dangerous in every area of human combat. Basically they are people you do not want to f**k with! What is more terrifying than an MMA fighter you ask? Well it’s simple…. a pair of them!
In the list we count down 3 of the most beloved power couples in MMA. From scary couples to downright adorable ones. From couples that met as MMA fighters, to pairs that were together before realising their passion for mixed martial arts.
3) Ronda Rousey and Travis Browne
Ronda and Travis are the most recently announced “MMA couple” on this list. The pair met when Travis moved to Ronda’s camp of Glendale fight club to train. Since then the couple have been inseparable, and although their romance is fresh, make no mistake this is arguable the most powerful couple in MMA today.
Rousey is a world superstar, she may be coming of a shock upset loss to Holly Holm, but she is still one of the biggest female sports stars on the planet. Travis had a quick rise through the UFC rankings to start his career, quickly establishing himself as one of the best in the world, over the last few years has had an up and down career but he has a chance to remind everyone who he is in July when he fights former heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez at UFC 200.
2) Pat Barry and Rose Namajunas
Pat and Rose are the sweetheart couple of the MMA world. They are 2 of the most beloved fighters around, not just for their fan friendly balls to the wall styles, but because of their fun loving and kind natured personalities. Since meeting at Roufusport years back the pair have been inseparable.
The two met when Namajunas punched Barry in the head during a sparring session, from that day Pat claimed he knew she was a special talent, and the pair have been inseparable ever since. Barry recently retired from MMA after a highlight filled career, and now corners Rose as she establishes herself as the top contender in the 115 pound women’s strawweight division.
1) Miesha Tate and Bryan Caraway
Miesha and Bryan have a fairy-tale story. They first met at an MMA fitness club at Washington central University ran by Bryan. They shared a passion for MMA which soon blossomed into a solid relationship, and they haven’t looked back since. Tate and Caraway have been through thick and thin together with Tate even saving her boyfriend’s mother's life, Chris Caraway, when she suffered an asthma attack while scuba diving, stopped breathing and became completely unresponsive.
Bryan has had a good career, trading wins and losses in the UFC before scoring an excellent victory over top bantamweight Eddie Wineland back in July 2015, solidifying his place in the division. It is Miesha however who has reached the pinnacle. She credits Bryan for teaching her everything she knows and with him in her corner she has had an incredibly successful career.
First she captured the Strikeforce women’s bantamweight title before losing it to Ronda Rousey and joining the UFC. From there she cleared out the women’s division before earning a shot at Ronda’s belt before ultimately falling at the final hurdle.
Tate fought on though and with Bryan by her side, Miesha finally realised her dream, winning the biggest prize in the sport when she defeated Holly Holm in an incredible comeback victory earlier this year.
