BRAVE Combat Federation has officially announced the return of Abdisalam Kubanychbek (18-3) for a second run at the promotion's interim lightweight title against Kazakhstan's Olzhas Eskaraev (10-5) at BRAVE CF 59 on June 18 in Bukhara, Uzbekistan.
Kubanychbek has been adamant about becoming the next BRAVE CF lightweight world champion since he secured the No. 1 contender spot at BRAVE CF 47, slating him to face the winner of Amin Ayoub vs. Ahmed Amir. However, the lightweight division has been anything but uneventful, since the dethroning of former champion Ayoub by current lightweight world champion Amir resulted in the latter stepping away from the cage and into recovery.
The unpredictability of the sport led Kubanychbek to face another former BRAVE CF lightweight world champion, Cleiton Silva, at BRAVE CF 57 in an interim lightweight world championship bout. The bout ended in the first round after shots to the back of the head ruled the fight a no contest.
This June, BRAVE CF is bringing the interim lightweight world championship belt to Central Asia and giving Kubanychbek a chance to once and for all prove whether he is championship material. Standing in the way of engraving his name into the BRAVE CF hall of fame is Eskaraev, a relative newcomer in the global promotion. Eskaraev made his mark on the division after defeating the notorious Lucas Martins at BRAVE CF 53 on short notice via rear-naked choke.
BRAVE CF 59 serves as the third event for the company in 2022, making Uzbekistan the 27th country hosting an event by the global promotion. The event is taking place on June 18 in association with Amir Temur Fighting Championship (ATFC) for a night destined to bring Uzbekistan mixed martial arts to the forefront of the international combat sporting scene.
