While there may have been a little controversy surrounding the stoppage, Liz Carmouche is still reaping the benefits of her Bellator 278 win over Juliana Velasquez.

Carmouche (17-7 MMA, 4-0 BMMA) was able to trap Velasquez (12-1 MMA, 7-1 BMMA) on the canvas in the fourth round of their championship headliner, and as she rained down short elbows, referee Mike Beltran called a halt to the contest. There was some question as to whether or not the decision was a touch premature, but it still meant Carmouche walked away with the Bellator women's flyweight title.

As such, she automatically ascends to the top spot at 125 pounds, but in the latest official Bellator rankings, she also moves up to No. 2 in the pound-for-pound list, trailing only all-time great Cris Cyborg, who sits atop the list. Velasquez slides down one spot to the No. 3 position.
