A rematch between two of Bellator’s elite welterweights will headline the promotion’s return to the United Kingdom in October.

Douglas Lima vs Michael Page II coming on October 1

Today, Bellator announced the organization will officially make its return to Europe with a planned event on October 1 at The SSE Arena, Wembley in London, England. And on that afternoon in the US, the promotion will offer up a battle between their top two ranked welterweights as former division king Douglas Lima (32-9) will face off with Michael Page (19-1) in a rematch of their Bellator 221 bout in May 2019.

The first showdown between the two took place in the semifinals of the organization’s welterweight Grand Prix. The matchup was one that fans had long clamored for as both are viewed as two of the very best strikers in all of Bellator. On that night in Illinois, “Phenom” would be victorious after scoring a highlight-reel knockout on the Englishman in the second round. The setback has been the only loss of “MVP’s” career so far.

Following his win, Lima, 33, would go on to win the tournament and the welterweight title in another rematch versus then-champion Rory MacDonald. The Brazilian made history on that night at Bellator 232, by becoming the first competitor to hold any promotional title on three separate occasions.

However, since regaining his title he has lost two straight. Including a failed bid at becoming the middleweight champion versus Gegard Mousasi, and most recently losing the 170-pound strap to young Ukrainian star Yaroslva Amosov in June.

Page, 34, has rebounded nicely from the knockout loss by winning five straight. Four of which have come by knockout. He last competed in May at Bellator 258, where he earned a doctor stoppage over Derek Anderson after mangling the former lightweight’s nose with a nasty knee in the first round.

Bellator London: Lima vs MVP II will air October 1 on Showtime, with the preliminary card starting at 12:30 pm ET, and the main card following at 4 pm ET.
