Faber: Don’t insult Cochrane, he may beat you up
The success of the world’s fastest growing sport was made possible by The Ultimate Fighter show reaching the mainstream. The show did so not by focusing on say the intricacies of a heel hook, but rather, as is ever the case with reality television, through the interaction between compelling personalities.
On Friday a unique personality is going to be trying to fight his way into the house. Dakota Cochrane holds an excellent 10-2 record and has starred in a number of gay pornographic videos. Cochrane, a 25-year-old father of two, has said firmly that he is straight, and that participation in gay pornography while in college was a mistake in the past. Still, the past is likely to come up on the show.
Coach Urijah Faber spoke rcently with MMAWeekly Radio about potentialy ocaching Cochrane.
“I’m interested to see where his head’s at with the whole thing,” said Faber. “That will be a big deciding factor on how everyone else deals with it. It’s going to come up, there’s no doubt about that. It’s not a subject that just gets looked over.”
“If these guys want to make fun of him or pick on him or whatever, they may be getting beat up by him, so I wouldn’t make him look too bad cause if you’re going to break a guy down and he beats you up then that kind of makes you look bad.”
“I don’t have a problem coaching the kid. I would maybe talk him out of doing something so degrading to himself if it comes up again, but other than that just wish the best for him.”
