A middleweight matchup between a six-time UFC veteran and a surging fighter with an impressive winning streak has been added to next month's Eagle FC 47 event.
MMA Underground confirmed with promotion officials that Maki Pitolo (13-9) and Doug Usher (13-3) have agreed to meet at the May 20 event, which takes place at FLXcast Arena in Miami and streams live on the FLXcast app.
"Coconut Bombz" earned his way into the UFC with a TKO victory over Justin Sumter on Dana White's Contender Series but found the going tough during his run, splitting his first two appearances before exiting the promotion after consecutive losses to Darren Stewart, Impa Kasanganay, Julian Marquez and Dusko Todorovic. In March, he returned to action for his first post-UFC bout, picking up a hard-fought decision win over longtime veteran Fernando Gonzalez under the Tuff-N-Uff banner.
Meanwhile, Usher lost the first two bouts of his professional career but has since rallied for an impressive 13-1 mark in his past 14 appearances, including a current nine-fight winning streak. Perhaps even more impressively, of his 13 career wins, 12 have come by way of stoppage, including 10 knockouts.
With the addition to the card, the Eagle FC 47 lineup includes:
- Yorgan De Castro vs. Junior Dos Santos
- Hector Lombard vs. Thiago Silva
- Alexandre Almeida vs. Roosevelt Roberts
- Maki Pitolo vs. Doug Usher
