Megumi Fujii earns first ever TKO win at Bellator
Once she found room to unleash her punches, Megumi “Mega Megu” Fujii finally finished someone off with strikes.
Fujii, one of mixed martial arts’ top-rated females, put away Sarah Schneider with a third-round technical knockout tonight at Bellator 21 in Hollywood, Fla. The result kept Fujii unbeaten in a 20 professional fights, but it was the first knockout of her career.
The beginning of the end came when Fujii mounted Schneider less than 90 seconds into the final round. Fujii started dropping punches from both hands, while Schneider did nothing other than turn away or try to cover up. The referee stoppage came with 3:02 remaining in the fight.
Fuji will return to the United States in August for Bellator Fighting Championships’ first tournament for female fighters.
