"My best friend in this world. People who know me knew that my life goal was to please God and my parents. Everything I did was to make you proud and give you happiness. The last 2 years were the hardest of our life and in every prayer, I asked Allah with tears in my eyes to give you health," Haqparast wrote in the post. "Until the end, your words were “Trust in God.” With the hardest chemotherapy, you still finished 2 whole Ramadan, never missed a prayer, and even complete the “Hadjj” with this disease. Your place is Jannah and I hope you were pleased with me my diamond."

Haqparast (13-3), and eighth-ranked Dan Hooker (20-10), are less than two weeks from their scheduled bout on the preliminary portion of the UFC 266 card. The native of Afghanistan confirmed on his Twitter account on Monday that he still plans to compete next Saturday.

Haqparast last fought in March, beating Rafa Garcia at UFC Vegas 21.

UFC 266 takes place on September 25, inside Las Vegas, Nevada's T-Mobile Arena. The card kicks off at 6 pm ET with preliminary action on ESPN and ESPN+. The pay-per-view main card follows at 10 pm ET and airs exclusively for US $69.99.
