BRAVE Combat Federation's return to Indonesia has a huge main event as two of the top 125-pounders in the world face off in a pivotal matchup for the future of the flyweight division. Asu Almabaev (16-2) will look to cement his place as next in line as he takes on Muhammad Idrisov (7-0), one of Bahrain's brightest stars in the lighter weight-classes.
Almabaev had an unforgettable 2021, when his rear-naked choke win over Aleksander Doskalchuk back at BRAVE CF 53, earned him two end of the year BRAVE CF awards: "Submission of the Year" and "Breakthrough Fighter of the Year."
This year, Almabaev extended his winning streak with two more victories, beating Imram Magaramov at BRAVE CF 57 and then earning the biggest win of his mixed martial arts career by edging Zach Makovsky at BRAVE CF 60. He's widely recognized as one of the top flyweights in the world, and ranked No. 1 in Kazakhstan, Central Asia and Middle East.
Now he looks to book a ticket for the flyweight title against Idrisov, an undefeated fighter from KHK Team Bahrain, with a 7-0 record and a legendary amateur career to boost. He has won a European gold medal and a World Championship silver medal representing Bahrain under the IMMAF banner.
Idrisov has been a bantamweight for most of his career but now looks to make waves at flyweight and will be hoping his size can be the difference-maker against Almabaev.
BRAVE CF 66 takes place on November 26 in Bali, as the fastest-growing MMA organization in the world returns to Indonesia after a four-year hiatus.
