Rogan says Bilyal Makhov will smash UFC heavyweight division

Rogan says this Olympic wrestler will smash UFC heavyweight division
Bilyal Makhov

Russia wrestler Bilyal Makhov is 6' 5" and walks around at 300 lbs. Last year he became the first wrestler in 43 years to medal at the world championships in both freestyle and Greco-Roman, winning bronze in each.

Although he has never had an MMA fight, he is already signed with the UFC, and has begun to train under world-class trainer Murat "Master K" Keshtov of New Jersey's K Dojo Warrior Tribe. MMA personality Joe Rogan discussed Makhov during a recent Joe Rogan Experience podcast.

“There’s this Russian dude who’s gonna join the ranks of MMA after the Olympics," said Rogan, as transcribed by Regan Roberts for Craziest Sports Fights. “This dude is so good, he’s so technical and so f***in stupid-strong… his f***in takedowns are ruthless. He runs through guys!

“Watch this motherf***er wrestle. He’s so f***ing fast and so big and so strong, and when he gets to MMA, he’s running through motherf***ers. You are not stopping his takedown!”

“He’s just gonna be throwing dudes around, they’re not gonna know what that f*** to do.

“Everybody’s f***ed!”

Rogan conceded that Bilyal's striking remains in development.

“It’s like he’s trying to grab people as he’s punching them," said Rogan. "He’s such a big f***ing gorilla though, he could just haymaker on you.

“He’s definitely gotta work on his kicks too but hey, man, he’s a super athlete. ... He probably could get better in a month.

“Guys that become that level world champion at anything that’s combat sport related, they figure it out, man.”

“This is a big motherf***er. You do not want this guy hitting you.

“USADA’s gonna be sniffing his ass so hard!”

“This guy’s probably on some straight f***in DNA manipulation…he’s so far ahead of the curve, they don’t even need steroids, they just put this dude in one of them easy-bake ovens!”

Regardless of what happens at the Olympics, the next path for Makhov is in, or perhaps through MMA.
