UFC rankings: Jan Blachowicz, Aleksandar Rakic stand firm in latest update
While this past weekend's light heavyweight headliner between Jan Blachowicz and Aleksandar Rakic had the potential to make a big impact in the UFC's 205-pound rankings, the result left both athletes in the same position they previously held.
After two tightly contested rounds at UFC on ESPN 36, a Rakic injury ended the fight early in the third, awarding Rakic a TKO win. With the latest rankings submission, Blachowicz (29-9 MMA, 12-6 UFC) remains in the No. 1 contender position, while Rakic (14-3 MMA, 6-2 UFC) holds firm at No. 3.
The only movement at light heavyweight actually came courtesy of Ryan Spann (20-7 MMA, 6-2 UFC), who scored a first-round submission win over Ion Cutelaba (16-7-1 MMA, 5-6-1 UFC) and moved up one slot to No. 12.
