Undefeated Bellator prospect Archie Colgan aiming for greatness: 'I want to be a world champion'

'King' Colgan didn't always expect to be a fighter, but he's all in now and aiming for the top of the sport.

Archie Colgan is expecting to return to the cage later this month at Bellator 283, though he's currently waiting on a new opponent. Still, "King" Colgan remains steadfastly focused on working to the top of the sport.

Need an example of his dedication? Check out his recounting of the aftermath of his March appearance at Eagle FC 46.

"I want to be a world champion, no doubt" Colgan told MMA Underground. "No doubt about it. I train really hard, multiple times a day, every single week. You know, my last fight, which was in March for Eagle, I broke my hand in that fight. So I broke my hand on Friday, I had surgery the following Friday, and then I was back in the gym on Monday, you know, three days later. Obviously I wasn't able to use that hand, but you work around it and you figure out how to get better without that, right? So I train hard not because I want to just train, but I want to reach greatness.

"I want to touch greatness. I want to I want a world title. I want all those things."

A former collegiate wrestler and old-school PRIDE fan, Colgan didn't always intend to become a professional fighter, but he's all in now. To hear more about Colgan's journey so far, as well as where he intends to go, check out his full interview above.
