Yorgan De Castro last saw action in May, picking up a TKO win over Junior Dos Santos when a shoulder injury forced the former UFC heavyweight champion to stop in the third round of their Eagle FC 47 headliner.
While it wasn't exactly the ideal method of victory De Castro was seeking, it still counts as a win, and "The Mad Titan" says he's been told a fight against reigning heavyweight champion Rizvan Kuniev is up next – unless the Russian takes another fight in the next few weeks, in which case De Castro would fight the winner of that matchup.
De Castro said his manager, Ali Abdelaziz, told him the news immediately after Eagle FC 47, stating that Eagle FC founder Khabib Nurmagomedov said that was the promotion's intention.
"They actually offered me a title fight right after that fight," De Castro said. "As soon as I got to the hotel, they called me. Ali said that Khabib said that I'm the next for the title fight. It was supposed to be July 29. I turned it down. I went to vacation, and they asked me again for the next card. I can't say the date, but it's too close, but they say I'm the next anyways, that they will move on and give Rizvan someone else, but I'm going to fight the winner. So my next fight for Eagle FC will be for the title fight."
