Old Cowboy would have beat his ass in the lobby
Donald Cerrone is 35, and taking a brash 27-year-old Mike Perry in stride: “The old ‘Cowboy’ would’ve met this dude in the lobby and beat his ass. The new ‘Cowboy,’ I just: ‘I’ll see you on Saturday, buddy.’ ... The journey of my career has been fun. Just, I can’t complain. I love every bit about this."

Raquel Pennington dealing with hypothyroidism, came down from 170
Raquel Pennington has cut weight 26 times, but lately has been dealing with hypothyroidism, and missed today by 2 pounds, forfeiting 20 percent of her purse. "I stay in shape. ... I have the Mexi-roll, is what I like to call it, but with how hard I train, I should actually be like a walking anatomy chart. … [Hypothyroidism] is one of those things to where you develop it and, obviously, being an athlete and constantly playing with the weight and stuff, we’re just trying to find a way to fine-tune it and what truly works for me. And since it’s something so new, we haven’t exactly fine-tuned it. There was a time in this camp where I actually started at 170, I was dropping really well, training was going great, and all of a sudden I started going back up in weight. So then I shot up to 162, and we weren’t understanding it, so we went back into the doctors to try to figure things out. And then the weight slowly started to come off.” H/T MMAkunkie

ONE CEO: If UFC closing flyweight we'll talk to all top fighters, including Cejudo
Chatri Sityodtong: “Many other flyweights, I’m very interested in, definitely. Already ONE Championship has the most stacked flyweight division in the world. I guarantee our roster is already better than the UFC’s flyweight division. But we definitely want to cherrypick and get some of the best UFC flyweights. That would be a dream come true. If it’s really true that UFC is going to close down their flyweight division, then, of course, we will talk to all the top flyweights. I will just say that I love Henry Cejudo. If he becomes a free agent, Henry give me a call.” BJPenn.com

Sean O'Malley has NAC hearing on 11/14 over failed anti-doping test
UFC bantamweight monster prospect Sean O’Malley, 24, failed an out-of-competition anti-doping test for what he said was a miniscule level of ostarine, and now faces a Nevada Athletic Commission disciplinary hearing on 11/14. In addition to USADA, the NAC holds jurisdiction in the case, because of its relationship to O’Malley’s scheduled fight vs. Jose Quiñonez at UFC 229, which was scratched. Under USADA he faces up to 2 years suspension; NAC does not have to follow same guidelines. The UFC no longer announces positive drug tests until the completion of the USADA investigation and adjudication process, but the fighter went public, and was baffled as to the source of the failure, citing the likelihood of a tainted supplement. 8 fighters facing discipline from NAC for UFC 229 post-fight melee
The agenda on the Nevada Athletic Commission website indicates Conor McGregor, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Dillon Danis, Zubaira Tukhugov, Abubakar Nurmagomedov, Rizvan Magomedov, and Esedulla Emiragaev will have hearings to extend temporary suspensions at the NAC meeting 11/14. Zubaira, Abubakar, and Esedulla jumped into the Octagon. McGregor scuffled with Abubakar on top of the cage and hit him. Zubaira and McGregor scuffled inside the Octagon, and Esedulla hit McGregor from behind. Rizvan threw punches outside the Octagon. And Air Khabib landed on or about Dillon in one of the most satisfying moments of justice since Congress passed the Civil Rights Act on August 29, 1957. H/T MMA Fighting
DC shares touching story of his daughter and Derrick Lewis
“My kids love the fights. They love the excitement of the arena. They’ve been to the last three. They love that, but they also don’t love the other side. ... [My daughter] was in the press conference area waiting for me to go, and Derrick went in there ... kind of standing there with his head down. She goes, ‘Mom.’ And my wife goes, ‘What?’ She goes, ‘I feel really bad for Derrick. He looks sad.’ So, like, they got to see the other side. And I don’t think my daughter likes that, man. She’s very sensitive. I don’t think they’ll be calling for Dad to even fight again. Because they also saw me on the other side when I lost to Jones, so they know the ups and downs of the fight game.” H/T MMAjunkie
Boxer Tony Bellew to retire this weekend, but MMA tempts
Liverpool's Tony Bellew, 35, is set to retire from boxing this weekend, whatever the outcome of his cruiserweight world title challenge vs. pound-for-pound great Oleksandr Usyk but ... "Could I see myself doing anything in that world [mixed martial arts], that realm? Yeah. Cause I love it so much. I must admit I do love MMA, I do love the UFC and the way they’ve built it – it’s a fantastic brand. Dana White has done an unbelievable job growing the UFC to what he has. It’s now a billion dollar organization, it was bought for over four billion by IMG, and they’re a mega-organization. That’s all down to Dana White and the Fertitta brothers. I’ve got a task ahead of me on November 10 – that’s what I’m focused on just now. I’m retiring from ‘boxing’ on November 10. What happens after that? I don’t know." H/T SportsJoe
'Mighty' and Eddie on ONE, UFC, and martial arts
Eddie Alvarez: “Where I’ve been, they’ve kind of lost their way. I feel like I’ve found my way with the One Championship family. I can respect my opponents and I can go in and fight like a man. I know my journey in martial arts can truly be appreciated here.”
Demetrious 'Mighty' Johnson: “Respect, honor, and integrity – North America does not appreciate these traits. I’m not controversial, I just want to do martial arts, and after seven years, I feel that this is finally the place I want to be.” H/T Yahoo
Cowboy doesn't blame opponent Platinum Mike, but irrevocably split with Wink
Cowboy Cerrone doesn't blame UFC Fight Night 139 opponent Mike Perry for his departure from long-time camp Jackson-Wink, but there will be reconciliation with coach Mike Winkeljohn: “Absolutely not. Nope. No. Because I talked to Wink as a man, face to face, and everything was fine. I explained it, and he was like, ‘Oh, I thought you called Perry out,’ and blah blah blah. I was like, ‘No, it was actually the other way around. He wanted to fight me.’ ... Next morning he calls me on the phone like, ‘Well, I thought about it, and not taking Perry means I don’t get paid. I was like, ‘You don’t get paid? What are you talking about?’ On the phone - he called me, like a f***ing girl - he’s like, ‘So we’re going to go ahead and go with him.’ And I said, ‘Yep, you just drew the line in the sand, man. If I catch you again, mother f***er, I’ll see ya.'” H/T MMAjunkie

New WWE deal for Lesnar could lead to DC-Jones III

Jacare not impressed with Adesanya , says I did better, twice
Israel Adesanya stopped Derrick Brunson at 4:51 of Round 1 at UFC 230, and asked for a title shot if either champ Robert Whittaker or challenger Kelvin Gastelum drop out at UFC 234. At the same event, Jacare Souza stopped Chris Weidman at 2:46 of Round 3. Jacare has had twelve fights since coming to the UFC in 2013, winning seven performance bonuses, including now three in a row, but never got a title shot, and argued he's ahead of Adesanya: ”He did a nice job. But what he did, I did better, and twice, and I’m not even a striker. So what he’s saying makes no sense. He’s talking crap.” Jacare has indeed stopped Brunson twice, once in 41 seconds, once in 3:50. H/T MMA Fighting
Jones: I was a party boy at first Gustafsson fight
“The guy that fought Gustafsson the first time was right in the heyday of all his crap, as far as just being a party boy, mainly. Being on top of the world; not many things have happened to my life at that point. So, I was just really on top of the world, just feeling invincible. Opposed to the guy that you see now, I feel like I’ve been through a lot. I’ve learned a lot. And I just feel like I appreciate the sport a lot more than used to. Having it be taken away from you and losing it, it teaches you how much it means to you. And this sport does mean a lot to me, I was extremely sad without it. Now that I have the opportunity to be back here in the UFC, I feel like I will treat it with so much more respect.” H/T BE • Watch
The one way DC would box Anthony Joshua
"I don’t want to go try to fight some dude in the sport that he’s best at. That’s like me asking Anthony Joshua to come and try to wrestle me or fight me in a mixed martial arts contest. He’d have no chance, just as I would have no chance against Anthony Joshua [boxing]. I am ultra-competitive. Why would I put myself in a situation where there’s a 99 percent chance that I’m going to lose? ... At the end of the day, I don’t think money is going to make me feel better about getting my ass kicked. ... I like to win, and I just don’t know if that’s really possible. Now, I would do it if he said, ‘OK, after we fight, I’ll fight you in the UFC.’ That’d be crazy. Then I’d be like, ‘OK, I’ll box you if you promise to fight me in the Octagon later.’ I’d want my get-back, dawg. Let me get my get-back.” H/T MMAjunkie
