After a last minute medical issue bumped Tom Breese and Antonio Arroyo from the main card, the ladies opened up the UFC Vegas 28 main card. As Montana De La Rosa took on Ariane Lipski in a fascinating clash of styles at flyweight.

The first round saw both women fight a little cautious. As De La Rosa looked for a chance to shoot, and Lipski wanted to stay out of range of her opponents wrestling. At moments “The Queen of Violence” did unload with some big shots, but none landed definitively. Half way through, the 26-year-old scored her first takedown. The rest of the round stayed there as De La Rosa worked her ground-and-pound from her opponents guard, and opened up a cut with an elbow strike.

The second opened with the Brazilian landing a strike that stung De La Rosa, forcing the American to push for a takedown attempt. Which she was successful on. On the ground she worked her ground strikes again and transitioned to full mount where she really went to work and beat up the former KSW flyweight champion. Lipski stopped offering much in the form of defense as De La Rosa bombed away, forcing the ref to jump in an stop the fight at 4:27 of the second round.

It was a needed win for the 26-year-old after fighting to a draw against Marya Bueno Silva in February. The former Ultimate Fighter is now 3-2-1 in her last six in the Octagon. Lipski has now lost two straight and falls to 2-4 in the promotion.
