ESPN was first to report the news that the UFC is finalizing the bout, which is scheduled to headline the promotion’s Fight Night event on December 18. The report mentions Las Vegas, Nev. as the likely location for the matchup, and cited UFC President Dana White as the source for the planned booking.

On Saturday night at UFC 266, Daukaus (12-3) scored a fourth straight knockout to open his Octagon career when he dispatched of a top-10 talent in Shamil Abdurakhimov in the second round of their preliminary card bout. The CFFC veteran also holds wins over Parker Porter, Rodrigo Nascimento, and heavyweight great Alexy Oleinik in the promotion.

His impressive win, the eleventh knockout in his 12 wins moved him to the ninth spot in our UFC heavyweight rankings.

Lewis (25-8) has not fought since his August loss to Ciryl Gane in their interim heavyweight title fight at UFC 265 in Houston, Texas. The defeat was his first setback in the Octagon in over two years after winning four straight in the run-up to his second chance at UFC gold.

“The Black Beast” is currently four in our rankings.

The matchup will be the first time the Philadelphia native will get competition from the top-five of the division and a high risk, low reward bout for Lewis in a foe at the back of the top-10.
