Former UFC champion Andrei Arlovski has had quite a career. Although he lost his last fight, prior to that loss he was on a significant win streak. His legendary career has had him face a who’s who of MMA. He’s fought in every major organization from Affliction, EliteXC, World Series of Fighting, Strikeforce and of course the UFC. In addition to his fighting career, he’s started a film career and has appeared in Universal Soldier: Regeneration and Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning.
Scott Adkins, although not a professional fighter has demonstrated his martial arts skills throughout his film career. He’s been in everything from The Bourne Ultimatum, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, The Expendables 2, Zero Dark Trinity and The Legend of Hercules. You could say that he’s had quite a legendary career himself as an action actor and stuntman.
Both of these martial artists got to meet each other in the movie Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning. Also starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren, this film is the semi-sequel to Universal: Regeneration which is a direct sequel to the 1992 classic Universal Soldier.
In this film Scott Adkins plays a character named John who wakes up from a coma. He’s looking for Jean-Claude Van Damme’s character Luc Deveraux who is responsible for the death of his wife and daughter. But before getting to him, he has to deal with Magnus who is a clone of Next Generation UniSol from Regeneration.
The video shows the final fight scene between the two. You would expect the bigger super soldier Magnus to have an easy time with John, but what we see near the end is that if you’ve been injected with “super serum,” it evens out the playing field. Or sometimes it gives you an incredible advantage.
Fighting inside a sporting goods store, the two go toe-to-toe using bats all the while throwing kicks and punches. The moment John realizes that the super serum has kicked in, he gets a surge of energy and power Super Saiyajin style. He starts to dispose of Magnus using weight lifting plates, a series of locks that breaks his arm…and in the end. Well, watch until the end. It’s pretty gruesome.
