Kamaru Usman vs Colby Covington II at UFC 268
A rematch of one of the best welterweight title fights in recent memory is set for the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s pay-per-view card in November.
Kamaru Usman vs Colby Covington II in November at MSG
ESPN reporter Brett Okamoto broke the news yesterday that a long-expected 170-pound title clash between champion Kamaru Usman (19-1) and rival Colby Covington (16-2) is headed to UFC 268 at the end of the year. The bout is expected to be the headliner for the promotion’s return to Madison Square Garden in New York. The information comes directly from UFC President Dana White.
The pair will meet again just a little over two years after their first encounter at UFC 245 in December of 2019. That bout was a highly competitive striking battle between two fighters who worked their way to division prominence with wrestling, rather than their stand-up prowess. The fight was up for grabs heading in the fifth and final round, with each man leading three rounds to one on a judge’s scorecard, and a third seeing it as even. However, the bout did not need the final scorecards to be read as “The Nigerian Nightmare” was able to knockout Covington with a little over a minute left in the round.
“Chaos” has only fought once since incurring just the second loss of his career. That came in September of last year when he defeated former champion, Tyron Woodley, by technical knockout.
UFC 268 is expected to take place on November 6 exclusively on ESPN+ pay-per-view.Join the discussion on this topic...
