UFC Vegas 31 was a big opportunity for Mateusz Gamrot, as he got the chance to match up with 33-fight Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran Jeremy Stephens. He didn’t need much time in getting the biggest win of his career.

Mateusz Gamrot submits Jeremey Stephens in a minute

“Gamer” wasted very few seconds in grabbing on to one of Stephen’s legs. The 30-year-old negotiated the grappling with “Lil Heathen” and was able to get him on his back. Step-by-step, he controlled the 35-year-old on the mat, snapped up his arm, and worked for a kimura. The former KSW two-division champion didn’t rush things and slowly maneuvered to get the right position for a fight ending tork of the limb. That perfect moment came with 3:56 left in the opening round. Forcing Stephens to tap for only the fourth time in a 47-fight career.

After losing his promotional debut in October, the native of Poland has won two straight, and both finishes. He moves his record to 19-1-1 overall.

For Stephens, it is another difficult setback. He made his return to lightweight in the hopes of changing his recent misfortunes, but instead he lost for the third straight time and is winless in his last six. Stephens has not had his hand raised in the Octagon since February 2018.
