Nasrat Haqparast beat the clock to secure a visa and is scheduled to arrive in Las Vegas on Thursday for his bout against Dan Hooker at UFC 266.

Haqparast and opponent Hooker both had serious issues securing travel visas so both could face each other on Saturday night. Hooker was able to end his issues in getting into the US from New Zealand last week. However, it wasn’t until Thursday morning that the Afghanistan native, who now lives in Germany, was able to gain permission to travel to the United States.

In a post to his Twitter account in the early morning hours today, the rising lightweight prospect thanked the promotion for helping him finally end the weeks-long ordeal.

“Thank you to the [UFC] and all the people involved for my last-minute visa!” he wrote. “Thank you to the @usconsfrankfurt and Consul General Scharpf and the visa unit. What a journey — I’m READY!!! Kickdown Las Vegas.”

One week ago, it was Hooker who went public to get an assist with his own visa to travel to Las Vegas, saying he was at his “last resort.” He contacted Kevin Covert at the US embassy in Auckland, New Zealand, in a plea for guidance to push through the travel visa for the scheduled work appearance.

“My visa is with the US embassy here in NZ as I fight next week in Las Vegas on #UFC266. Update today is, it won’t be approved until next week due to lockdown which will cancel my fight. Please help. The embassy has my passport and all the completed documentation, all I need is it to be processed and returned. This is an absolute last resort,” Hooker wrote.

The embassy quickly replied and Hooker’s travel was cleared.

As for Haqparast he will have 32 hours to travel from Germany to Nevada, and make weight on Friday morning for his scheduled matchup.

UFC 266 takes place on Sept. 25, inside Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena. The preliminary portion of the card — where Haqparast and Hooker will face off — kicks off at 6 pm EST on ESPN and ESPN+. The main card pay-per-view begins at 10 pm ET and air exclusively on ESPN+ for US $69.99.
