UFC 266: Shevchenko vs Murphy preview
Shevchenko vs Murphy will co-main event UFC 266 in a bout featuring a dominant champion and massive betting underdog.
The 33-year-old champion is a perfect 7-0 at her new home of 125 pounds, during which time she has cemented herself as one of the sport’s finest talents. She has at times seemed unbeatable, besting former strawweight champions Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Jessica Andrade, veterans Liz Carmouche and Jessica Eye, and Invicta FC champion Jennifer Maia during this recent hot streak.
Shevchenko vs Murphy preview
Stepping in against the Kyrgyzstan native will be American Murphy. The winner of five straight UFC appearances. The 38-year-old is a former Invicta FC champion and a member of the UFC roster since 2014.
Since being a cast member of The Ultimate Fighter Season 26 — which saw Nicco Montano crowned as the inaugural UFC flyweight champion — Murphy has gone an impressive 6-1. Her lone loss came at the hands of Sijara Eubanks, and then her wins against Andrea Lee, Roxanne Modafferi, and Joanne Calderwood.
Murphy is a massive +800 betting underdog, but she believes she will be the one to dethrone Shevchenko at 125 pounds. The fight serves as the co-main event inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The event takes place on September 25, with preliminary action beginning at 6 pm ET on ESPN and ESPN+. The main card pay-per-view — which costs US $69.99 — starts at 10 pm ET exclusively on ESPN+.
