He’s no longer the governor of the state of California. He’s back. The Austrian powerhouse Arnold Schwarzenegger has moved back to Hollywood and one of his first films back was an action packed movie called The Last Stand.

With the popularity of MMA on the rise, we’ve seen films using more realistic forms of fighting. In this case, we get to see the villain Gabriel Cortez, played by Eduardo Noriega use BJJ against Sheriff Ray Owens, played by Schwarzenegger in the final fight scene.

On a bridge, Cortez goes in for a lunging Superman punch but then is ridiculously double legged by the sheriff. But for some odd reason the sheriff decided to back off and state their fight is "game on." The villain once again rushes at Schwarzenegger but wasn't able to amount any sort of offense. Schwarzenegger was able to initiate a hold and suplex the hell out of him into the cement road over the bridge. You would think that would knock most people out.

But then things gets a little tricky. Schwarzenegger decided to land in the villain's guard. The villain closes it tightly and tries to control the neck. But Schwarzenegger powered out of it and did something that well, isn't allowed in BJJ tournaments or even in a full contact sport like MMA, he starts to gouge his eyes. As the villain screams, he grabs Arnie's arms and then transitions for an armbar.

Thankfully all of those years of bodybuilding gave Schwarzenegger that massive upper body that he still retains making it hard for the villain to lock up the submission. Arnie just begins wale on him with his free hand. He eventually uses his old man strength to pick up Cortez and spikes him on the ground. Once again you would think that being spiked on the concrete would knock someone out.

In the end, Cortez once again tried to take advantage of the nice sheriff when he let up. He even had the opportunity to stab the sheriff’s leg. But once again, the sheriff used his old man strength to knock Cortez’s head into a steel beam knocking him to the ground.

Moral of this scene is; unless you’re a BJJ black belt, don’t mess with Arnie.
