Drunken Kung Fu, also known as Drunken Boxing, is a style of Chinese martial arts that imitates the movements of a drunkard. Now, the main advantages of this style are in its unpredictability as well as in its ability to disguise attack, but you never really see Drunken Kung Fu utilized in modern-day MMA or kickboxing.

In this video, however, we actually see Drunken Kung Fu utilized in a real-life kickboxing match and it certainly is interesting to behold.

Much like the video title points out, this guy's style is more reminiscent of a Jackie Chan movie than a kickboxer's but, nevertheless, he definitely still has some success using this style.

As previously stated, the main advantage of this style is in its unpredictability but, in this video, it also seems to fluster and confuse his opponent who surely isn't used to competing or even training against someone with this style.

The Drunken Kung Fu guy is good at messing with the rhythm too and is good at lulling his opponent into a false sense of security then exploding out of nowhere with a punch or big kick.

There are definitely still some holes with this style, though, such as holding your hands too low, and a higher level kickboxer would probably make quick work of someone using this style.

Check out the video below to see real-life Drunken Kung Fu in action.

ABOUT DRUNKEN BOXING:
Drunken boxing (Chinese: 醉拳; pinyin: zuì quán) is a general name for all styles of Chinese martial arts that imitate the movements of a drunk person. It is an ancient style and its origins are mainly traced back to the famous Buddhist and Daoist sects. The Buddhist style is related to the Shaolin temple while the Daoist style is based on the Daoist tale of the drunken Eight Immortals. Zui Quan has the most unusual body movements among all styles of Chinese martial arts. Hitting, grappling, locking, dodging, feinting, ground and aerial fighting, and all other sophisticated methods of combat are incorporated.[Source: Wiki]
