Thailand is known for many things. The beautiful beaches, the fantastic food, cheap hotels, and an incredibly enchanting Red-Light District in Bangkok. But truly, Thailand is best known for their ancient martial art of Muay Thai.

Also known as the “The Art of Eight Limbs,” Muay Thai is a combat sport that specializes in striking techniques that include punches, kicks, elbows and knees. The art also includes numerous clinching and throwing techniques that true masters are adept in.

Centuries old, Muay Thai has become a sport that has become a global fixture in combat sports and more recently an integral part of a Mixed Martial Artist’s repertoire.

Usually it takes years and years of training and then competition to solidify one’s Muay Thai skills. But when you don’t have that kind of time, why not go ahead and fight a pro Muay Thai fighter when you have the chance to when you’re in Thailand? It is most likely a once in a lifetime opportunity for anyone to experience the kind of skills that one has honed for years.

In the video, a supposedly drunken foreigner (sometimes called a “farang” by the Thai people) has become brave enough (most likely through the influence of liquid courage) to step into the ring against a pro fighter. It’s easier said than done and this foreigner definitely stepped up.

Once the bell rang, the foreigner shows absolute courage by actually trying to kick his opponent only to be side-kicked to the ground. But that didn’t deter him. He presses forward after he gets up and goes on the offensive throwing a barrage of punches, kicks and even initiates a clinch.

Throughout the whole bout, the foreigner displayed bravery that most wouldn’t even think about. He was able to land a handful of punches and even a trip against the veteran. But in the end, when the Muay Thai professional wanted to pick it up, he did. Although he took it easy on his visitor, the fight eventually ended in a KO.

A lot of commenters called the foreigner an “idiot.” But like one commenter stated, you “gotta give the guy credit... he took a beating like a champ and actually had a couple good shots himself.”
