heavyweight Taekwondo champion vs. elite-level kickboxer

In this fight broken down by striking analyst Lawrence Kenshin, we see what happens when a heavyweight Taekwondo champion fights an elite-level kickboxer and it doesn't last very long at all.

The Taekwondo champion is named Yong Soo Park and is not a small man by any means. Park stands 6'6" tall and weighs 243 lbs.

His opponent in this fight is not a small man either though. Jerome Le Banner is 6'3" himself and weighs in around 260 lbs. He is also a very high-level kickboxer with a record of 81 wins, 22 losses with 2 draws. He is also highly aggressive and has the highest KO percentage in K-1 history, winning by knockout in 65 of his 81 total wins.

This fight took place in 2007 and was part of the K-1 World GP 2007 in Seoul Final 16 event where the TKD champion, Park, would obviously be the hometown favorite.

Park came out 'guns a blazing' and threw a lot of kicks but was clearly in over his head against a kickboxer the level of Jerome Le Banner.

As Kenshin makes note of in his striking breakdown, Le Banner applied too much pressure with his punches for Park to get his kicks going, which require a lot of range.

Le Banner took out the 6'6" Taekwondo champion with a big right hook in under a minute using this strategy, spoiling the party for the hometown hero.
