A high school wrestling champion helped stop a guy who tried to kidnap three young children in the parking lot of a gas station in New Mexico.

Canaan Bower, a 285 pound, 16 year-old wrestling champ from New Mexico was filling up his truck with gas at Circle K when he noticed the commotion across the street at a competing gas station.

The children's mother told authorities that she got off the bus with her three children, ages 9, 2 and 1, and was waiting for her Uber when she noticed a man staring at her family. The man eventually approached her and then grabbed a hold of the 2-year-old's arm and demanded she give him her children.

Bystanders attempted to intervene, but they were all met with fierce strikes from the assailant.

During the video, we can see the mother and her children get a chance to rush inside the store. A man inside attempts to hold the door closed, but the assailant pushed the door open with enough force to knock the man down.

The perp was arrested by Sheriff's deputies as soon as they arrived on the scene. He is also accused of assaulting several patrons and employees who tried to help stop him. The assaults were all caught on CCTV.
