Former BRAVE CF contender Khamzat Chimaev has enjoyed an unparalleled, record-setting debut through a standard UFC three-fight contract. He has been hit just twice in his first three league fights, and both were in his first bout. And the number of shots it takes to win is decreasing, as the level of competition increases. He stopped his first opponent after 124 punches at middleweight, the second after 68 punches at welterweight, and the third opponent, back at middleweight, with just four punches.
Former champ champ Daniel Cormier, says “In 2021, Khamzat Chimaev is the double champ, 170 and 185.”
UFC president Dana White says, “This guy is one of the most special fighters I’ve ever seen, if not the most special guy that I’ve ever come across.
Now “Borz” fights #3 ranked welterweight Leon Edwards in the main event of UFC on ESPN+ 44 on December 19, at UFC APEX in Las Vegas. This is the fight that will determine if Khamzat Chimaev is the next big thing, as White explained during a recent appearance on The Jim Rome Show.
“They will fight, it will be a great fight, and yeah, he can stop calling everybody out on Twitter now, he’s got an opponent,” said White. This guy had 30,000 followers in his first fight, he has almost a million followers now. This kid is one fight away from being a massive superstar. If he can beat Leon Edwards he’s going to be a massive superstar in the UFC.”
I would say he’s a super confident Khabib. He wants to fight anybody, doesn’t care. He’ll move up one weight class, two weight right classes. When you’re a fight fan you love guys like that. Or you want to see a guy like that lose so it’s good in every way, shape, and form.
What do you think UG? With a win, how big is Khamzat Chimaev?
