Tito Ortiz: ‘Anderson Silva gave my girlfriend his first-class ticket home’
Despite Tito Ortiz questioning Anderson Silva’s integrity and sportsmanship in the lead-up to their Triller Fight Club: Legends II bout, the Brazilian stayed classy to the end and recently gave up his first-class plane ticket to his opponent’s girlfriend.
Last week was a rough return to combat action for former Ultimate Fighting Championship great Orti (21-12-1 MMA). On Friday, he missed the contracted weight for his Triller Fight Club bout by five pounds. Then he was soundly drubbed by UFC middleweight GOAT Silva (34-11 MMA) in his first foray into professional boxing.
It only looked all the worse because “The Huntington Beach Badboy” complained before the fight about the matchup taking place at 195-pounds. Ten pounds lower than what he competed at in MMA. He also called into question the fighting spirit of “The Spider” for not competing against him at a higher weight, and then ended up having a disastrous fight week show.
Anderson Silva gave up first-class seat home to Tito Ortiz’s girlfriend
Despite all the hate, before and after the fight, the 46-year-old Silva was nothing but respectful. He even continued that impressive show of respect when it came time for the athletes to return home.
In an Instagram stories post on Sunday night, Ortiz revealed that Silva actually gave up his first-class seat home, so that Ortiz and his girlfriend could sit next to each other on their return flight.
“I’m on a flight right now going back to LA. I think the biggest thing that Anderson Silva’s ever done to me — I’m very thankful — he just actually gave up his first-class ticket for Amber to sit here,” Ortiz said. “The flight’s messed up — JetBlue messed up. Anderson Silva gave his seat up for Amber to sit next to me. Anderson Silva, you’re the man dude. Amazing man. Nothing but respect. Even after the fight. He gave it up.”
Silva was victorious in the pair’s bout by first-round knockout. He moved to 2-0 as a professional boxer, while Ortiz fell to 0-1 in his latest pursuit in combat sports.
Following the bout, Ortiz called for a bout with Logan Paul. One-half of the popular duo of social media influencers turner boxers the Paul brothers. Logan fell to boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, Jr. by unanimous decision in an exhibition bout this past June.
