Cris Cyborg vs Cat Zingano is expected to be added to a planned Bellator card in the coming months.

Bellator President Scott Coker has made the news official that women’s featherweight gold will be up for grabs again when reigning champion “Cyborg” Justino (25-2) will defend her belt against UFC veteran Zingano (12-4) at some point in the next few months.

In a conversation with “>MMAJunkie, Coker explained that Zingano requested the bout recently, and he expects to slot the matchup into one of the many planned event dates they have over the first and second quarter of this year.

Cat has reached out and wants to fight Cyborg, so I think our inclination is to put that fight together, Coker said. We’re going to have multiple fights in February and multiple fights in March and multiple fights in April and multiple fights in May. We’re going to start lining these big fights up and start knocking them off.

After being released from the UFC in August 2019 — following losing four of her last five bouts in the Octagon — “Alpha” signed with Bellator in 2020 and has gone unbeaten over her first two fights in the organization. Beating Gabrielle Holloway and Olivia Parker as she earns her trips transitioning from being a long-time bantamweight into a featherweight competitor. She competed for the UFC women’s 135-pound title on one occasion in 2015. Losing to Ronda Rousey by first-round submission.

“Cyborg” is currently on a five-fight win streak, and has defended her Bellator 145-pound title successfully three times after dethroning champion Julia Budd in her promotional debut in January 2020. She has not tasted defeat since losing in a UFC featherweight title defense against current champion Amanda Nunes close to four years ago.
