Early last week it was revealed that Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey would appear in this year’s ‘Body Issue’ of ESPN the Magazine. The special edition issue, which began in 2010, features professional athletes from all sports pictured naked. The issue has been praised and denounced by fans and media, but it’s interest in undeniable.
Mixed Martial Arts athletes have been featured in each issue: Ronda Rousey this year, the Cyborg’s and Jon Jones in 2011, and Gina Carano in the inaugural 2010 issue. Rousey has used not only her beauty, but her controversial promotional sense to become the new face of women’s MMA.
