Jorge Masvidal has no interest in a fight with Jake Paul because “Gaembred” is about fighting the best fighters in the world, not someone he could easily “slam through the concrete” if they had a real-world confrontation.

After Paul beat Tyron Woodley in August and earned his fourth straight win as a boxer, the YouTuber turned pugilist suggested his next matchup could be against two-time UFC welterweight title challenger Masvidal (35-15). He even offered a multi-million dollar payday if the Cuban-American entered the ring with him.

When the 36-year-old didn’t automatically shoot down the idea as it spun around the combat sports news cycle, fans and media thought the matchup wasn’t an impossibility. Since the UFC co-promoted a super-fight with Showtime Boxing to allow another Conor McGregor to take his talents to boxing and face sweet science legend Floyd Mayweather, Jr.

Jorge Masvidal vs Jake Paul is not happening…at least not anytime soon

Well, if you had any small hope of a Jorge Masvidal vs Jake Paul fight in boxing in the next couple of years, you can give that up. In a recent interview on The MMA Hour, the Floridian bluntly dispelled the notion of a fight with the 24-year-old. Citing the fact that Paul can’t offer bigger paydays than the UFC, and that he is out to fight the best in the world. Something Paul will never be.

“The UFC does not give a flying f*ck about whats-his-face. So the problem is, I’m signed to the UFC, I have to do what they say, and they pay me bigger checks. This guy talks about I’m gonna write you a $50 million check. Go look at the pay-per-views he’s selling. He ain’t writing no one a $50 million check,” Masvidal said [h/t/ Bloodyelbow]. “Go actually look at the f*cking numbers they sold on Showtime and Triller. He doesn’t have that money, but again, he’s trolling the whole world saying these big-money deals.

“Right now, where I’m at in my career, I’m gonna fight the best fighters in the world. We can both agree that they’re in the f*cking UFC. In 170 pounds there’s a lot of good guys and I could f*cking beat them up and I’m gonna get the most money. When I’m done beating up world-class fighters, this bum will still be around,” he added. “Those types of options will always be there. But right now while I’m in my prime, I gotta do things that people in their prime do and that’s fight the world’s best. He’s not in that conversation or ever will be.”

Masvidal threatens to turn Paul into an invalid if he chose to confront him in person

During the conversation, Masvidal was asked by host Ariel Helwani about the pair reportedly exchanging DMs and a bit of trash talk on social media. The sixth-ranked welterweight confirmed they have, but that the trash talk was far from anything real and never would be. Saying that Paul would never make things that serious because he knows what would happen to him if the pair were to actually tussle in person.

“He knows at the end of the day, on a face-to-face, he can’t say any of that. Unless he has his 50 bodyguards and I’m by myself. Because at the end of the day I can always pick this little kid up and slam him through the concrete so hard that he will be invalid for the rest of his life,” said Masvidal.

Paul’s next fight is expected to take place in December when he faces Tommy Fury. The half-brother of lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

Masvidal will also return to action in the same month when he battles long-time rival, Leon Edwards, in a featured welterweight clash at UFC 269.
