UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson is tied with Anderson Silva for consecutive title defenses, with 10. However, he had just one actual, physical belt.
Prior to his last fight, a submission of the previously never submitted Wilson Reis at UFC on FOX 24, DJ called for the UFC to give him one belt for each title defense.
He may have been inspired by this.

Floyd Mayweather has a picture with all his championship belts, and I think Andre Ward just did it too,” said Johnson, as transcribed by MMA Fighting. “And I think it would be cool if I can re-create that same image in mixed martial arts. You got Conor holding up two belts, two weight champion, and I think it would be cool if I were successful and got to 11, and had just 11 UFC titles and have my amateur belts, and be like this is the road I took to get here.
UFC president Dana White agreed, and so it has come to pass.
One more successful title defense and Johnson will have set a new record, moving closer to the consensus UFC G.O.A.T.
