A battle of ranked UFC welterweight pitting Stephen Thompson vs Belal Muhammad is set to take place on a UFC Vegas card in December.
Muhammad said via social media that a Dec. 18 matchup in Las Vegas was officially a go, and Thompson later added he was booked for the fight in an interview with ESPN.
The pair are both ranked in the top-10 in the MixedMartialArts.com UFC welterweight rankings. With “Wonderboy” currently sitting in the sixth spot, and Muhammad at eight.

Thompson (16-5-1) would likely be in the running for a close-up with champion Kamaru Usman had he not been knocked off by Gilbert Burns in July at UFC 264. The unanimous decision — all three judges scored the fight 29-28 — drew rousing boos from the crowd.
Muhammad scored a unanimous decision over Demian Maia the month before at UFC 263. He is unbeaten in his last six fights.
