“UFC 289: Nunes vs. Aldana” took place Saturday at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The night’s main card streamed live on ESPN+ pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN, ESPN+ and UFC Fight Pass.
In the main event, double champ Amanda Nunes (23-5 MMA, 16-2 UFC) put her women’s bantamweight title on the line against Mexican challenger Irene Aldana (14-7 MMA, 7-5 UFC). Following a dominant decision win, “The Lioness” announced that her days in the octagon had come to an end.
Additionally, the co-main event featured a key lightweight clash with former champ Charles Oliveira (34-9 MMA, 22-9 UFC) taking on top contender Beneil Dariush (22-5-1 MMA, 16-5-1 UFC).
