UFC rankings: Marlon 'Chito' Vera climbs to No. 5 with latest win

Marlon Vera has mad it clear he plans on one day holding UFC gold. He took another step in that direction with his latest win and now holds the No. 5 position in the promotion's latest updated official rankings.

At this past weekend's UFC on ESPN 35 event, Vera (21-7-1 MMA, 13-6 UFC) scored a thrilling decision win over Rob Font (19-6 MMA, 9-5 UFC) in a Las Vegas headliner, and "Chito" slides up three spots with the result, now residing at No. 5. With the loss, Font drops two slots to No. 7, with Merab Dvalishvili now between the two opponents in the No. 6 spot.

The bantamweight division is filled with capable contenders all targeting a matchup with undisputed champion Aljamain Sterling, though it appears T.J. Dillashaw may have the inside track on the next title shot.
