UFC president Dana White once drove a purple Gremlin, but now makes a reported $25 million per year. Like any normal person in the tax bracket, he is building a weapons room. And as everyone who has ever speculated about zombie-fighting knows well, you have to have a samurai sword. Or better, swords.
I’m building this weapons room in my house and what I’m really looking for today is a sword, began White. The UFC boss then matched negotiation skills with Chumlee.
The katana was appraised at 30 to 40 thousand dollars and the negotiation began at the high end, and ended up on the low, with White buying an additional $30,000 worth of swords.
Then a plotline entered the story – shop co-owner Rick Harrison went to take the sword back, but when he saw the buyer, convinced him to buy one more, for a total of $69,000.
I love the whole Japanese samurai tradition and the story and it’s a beautiful sword, said White. So I couldn’t refuse, so I took that one, too.
After work, Chumlee went home. At $25,000 per episode, he hasn’t graduated to a weapons room, yet, but he does have a Chum Chum room, with stripper pole.
The hyper-successful Pawn Stars is now in it’s 15th season. White’s The Ultimate Fighter is heading into season 27, with an undefeated cast and heavyweight champ Stipe Miocic and light heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier as opposing coaches. TUF 27 debut episode is due to air on April 18.
