UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor, 27, is seen in this video at an undisclosed location putting his patented left hand to the test on a punching power machine.

While some may argue that these are nothing more than novelty devices, the punch McGregor landed was undoubtedly impressive and appeared to have broken the record previously held on the unit— registering an impressive 932 pounds of force.

Although the accuracy and comparability of these machines cannot be properly assessed for the purpose of this article, we recently posted another video of former world boxing champion Evander Holyfield, 53, and former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez, 33, registering their best punches on a SportsNation punching power machine.

Velasquez punched 823 pounds of pressure in his best attempt, while Holyfield came in behind and registered a still impressive 756 pounds.

When considering how exciting McGregor has been in and outside of the octagon, it comes as no surprise that his rise to fame has been nothing short of meteoric.

Winning 6 of his 7 UFC bouts by knockout, the trash talking Irishman surely packs a powerful wallop. He used his power to flatten Jose Aldo at UFC 194 in an astonishing 13 seconds—unifying the coveted UFC Featherweight Championship.

McGregor feels he is punching well above his weight these days and is mere weeks away from moving up in weight class to face UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 196 on March 5th.

Should McGregor win, he will become the first fighter in UFC history to simultaneously hold titles in two weight classes. While some may think McGregor may be biting of more than he can chew this time out, it’s certainly becoming evident that his bark is every bit as big as his bite.
