Not everyone was thrilled with the matchmaking skills of Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White when it comes to the topic of the UFC 265 interim heavyweight title bout between Ciryl Gane and Derrick Lewis.

The August headliner set for Houston’s Toyota Center drew criticism from fighters, agents, and fans who felt he unceremoniously ruled out new heavyweight champ Francis Ngannou for the next division title fight.

Dana White tells UFC 265 critics to ‘shut the f*ck up’

In his usual unfiltered terms, White lashed back and defended his reasoning behind booking the fight.

“If anything, this will make the title fight even bigger when these guys fight,” White said in an interview with MMAJunkie. “It’ll be champion versus champion and if Derrick Lewis wins, Derrick Lewis is the guy who beat him. Ciryl Gane has never fought him, and he’s undefeated, which means if he beats Derrick Lewis, the guy who beat Francis Ngannou, and he’s still undefeated going in against Francis Ngannou, that’s pretty f*cking exciting.

“So why doesn’t everybody just shut the f*ck up and let me do what I’ve been doing for the last 20 years? If you want to fight, I got fights every Saturday. If you don’t want to fight, no problem. Fly around the world, go on f*cking vacation, do whatever the hell you want to do, and when you’re ready to fight, we’ll be here.”

War of words between White and Team Ngannou

Marquel Martin, Ngannou’s agent, started a direct war of words with UFC boss over social media when the fight was first announced on June 29. White called Martin “full of sh*t” in one part of the lengthy exchange.

Ngannou won the heavyweight title with a knockout over Stipe Miocic three months ago. But White said no one in Ngannou’s camp could be shocked, claiming they informed him “several times” the UFC 265 bout on August 7 was being scheduled.

Martin kept the heat on White to be transparent with fans about what went down.

“… I tell you what, let’s disclose everything for people to see. Emails, calls, texts, everything. Deal? Cause I’m ready to get blackballed by the UFC. I’m not defined by it, you or anyone else for that matter. How’s that sound? Sincerely, your old employee, Marquel Martin.”
