Dustin Poirier get will get another shot at the UFC lightweight title on December 11 at UFC 269.

UFC 269’s main event will feature a 155-pound title fight between Poirier (28-6) and new division king Charles Oliveira (31-8). The Louisiana native has won three fights in a row and most recently notched a technical knockout victory over Conor McGregor. It was his second straight victory over the “Notorious” former two-division champion.

Poirier tweeted the words “signed, sealed and delivered” on Sunday night. He also alluded to the likelihood of the fight during media interviews during his appearance at the 2021 UFC Hall-of-Fame ceremony last week.

The division’s title has been in a state of flux since former champion Khabib Nurmagomedov announced his retirement late last year. In May at UFC 262, Oliveira knocked out former Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler to win the title. Oliveira has had eight finishes during a current nine-match winning streak.

This will be “Do Bronx’s” first title defense and the second championship opportunity for Poirier. “Diamond” lost a title unification fight by submission to Nurmagomedov at UFC 242.

In April 2019, he won interim gold at UFC 236, downing Max Holloway in a lightweight division classic via unanimous decision.
