The results from UFC 264 have been logged and the event is in the rearview for most fans, however, the competitors on the card will be recovering from the injuries sustained inside the T-Mobile Arena on Saturday night for some time. And several of those competitors have serious enough injuries that a six-month hiatus from the Octagon could be in their future.
To the surprise of no one, one-half of the night’s main event, Conor McGregor, has a long recovery ahead of him after fracturing his tibia and fibula in the opening round of his loss to the lightweight division’s top contender Dustin Poirier. McGregor updated fans on his health Sunday night, saying he was “feeling tremendous” following surgery for his injuries.
Also facing a possible six-month suspension is former NFL pro-bowler Greg Hardy. The heavyweight incurred a fractured orbital and nose in his first-round knockout loss to Australia’s Tai Tuivasa.
Despite winning in dominant fashion, uber-popular bantamweight talent Sean O’Malley will need to get x-rays on both hands, his left shin, and right foot or he too could be out of the Octagon for the next six months.
