Arguably the greatest mixed martial artist to ever step inside of the world famous octagon, former champion Georges St Pierre become known for a few staple techniques during his welterweight reign. The first that comes to mind would be his devastating wrestling techniques which saw him routinely out wrestle much more accomplished wrestlers on paper and make them look amateurish to say the least.

The second technique that comes to mind is his vaunted superman punch. In the following clip Georges St Pierre himself breaks down how to execute his trademark technique which found its home on fighters such as BJ Penn, Matt Hughes and Nick Diaz.

The perfect blend of technique and athleticism Georges breaks down the version of superman he used against Matt Hughes at UFC 65 in 2006, and reveals an unorthodox wrinkle to the move.

“The way I do (the superman punch) is that I’m faking a groin kick, you’re not allowed to hit the groin in a fight, but nothing says I’m not allowed to fake it.”

To find out how this relates to the superman punch, watch the tutorial below.

Georges St-Pierre (born May 19, 1981), often referred to as GSP, is a Canadian semi-retired mixed martial artist (MMA) and a three-time former Welterweight Champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), having won the title twice in 2006 and 2008, as well as an Interim title in 2007. He is frequently cited as one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time. In 2008, 2009, and 2010 he was named the Canadian Athlete of the Year by Rogers Sportsnet.

On December 13, 2013, holding the record for most wins in title bouts and the second longest combined title streak in UFC history (2,204 days), St-Pierre vacated the title and decided to take some time off from the sport, although he left the door open for a return. [source : wiki]
